Sedona/Jerome Visit the awe inspiring red rock country of Sedona. Begin the day with a scenic drive thru the Sonoran desert, to the beautiful Verdi Valley and 100 year old ruins of the Sinagua Indians at Montezuma’s Castle national monuments.
After lunch, we visit the picturesque town of Jerome. Adults $125.00, kids 12 and under $65.00
Verdi Canyon Railroad/ Jerome Head north of Phoenix, to the scenic Verdi Valley and the historic copper mining town of Jerome. Perched on the side of Mingus Mountain, you can enjoy browsing the quaint shops and art galleries, or just take in the magnificent view of the valleys and mountains to the north. After lunch, we’ll head down the mountain to Clarksdale and the Verdi Canyon Railroad for a 4 hour round trip train ride thru Arizona’s “other Grand Canyon”. This historic rail line, originally built in 1912 to support the rich copper mines of the area, follows the upper Verdi river past towering sandstone cliffs and lush riparian areas, to Perkins Ville Ranch and back. Narration and music is featured on all rail cars. Meals and Gratuities separate. Adults $140.00, kids 12 and under $75.00
Apache Trail President Theodore Roosevelt called the Apache Trail “one of the most spectacular, best-worth seeing sights of the world”. Roosevelt traveled the trail by car in 1911 on the way to the dedication of the lake and dam named in his honor. From Phoenix we make a terrific, scenic loop around/thru the Superstition Mountains to the Tonto National Monument, where you can see the ancient ruins of the Salado Indians.
